Being a beekeeper in the town area!

My beekeeping journey began with an idea while tending to my allotment during the lockdown. We were fortunate to grow our own organic fruits and vegetables, and there was a designated area for bees. When I learned that the lady beekeeper was planning to leave, I decided to take on the responsibility, believing that my love for animals and plants would help me succeed.

MY JOURNEY STARTED:

  1. I took a beekeeping class.

  2. I watched many YouTube videos.

  3. I read books about beekeeping.

  4. I registered with the local Beekeeping Association.

The local Association provided me with an incredible mentor who introduced me to gentle beekeeping, showed me her apiary, and taught me the proper behavior around bees.

At first, it was overwhelming but also fascinating. I became intrigued by the complex behavior of bees and would spend hours just observing them. I grew to love them and always tried my best to take good care of them.

During my first year, I didn't expect much, but I learned a lot and was rewarded with delicious honey. Last year, we entered our honey in the local Honey Show competition and won the first prize, impressing the judge. This achievement boosted my confidence and motivated me to continue doing what I love, regardless of the challenges or the number of times I got stung.
